Description
A fine example of subtle watercolour brushwork, both wet and dry. Note in particular, the painterly way part of the snow covered flanks of Helvellyn have been rendered so carefully on the right-handside. Rather puzzingly, this tarn has remained nameless, although others of a similar size have been anointed.
"Steel Fell, upon which lies a tarn some 300 feet long and 200 feet wide, yet it has no name and has never appeared on any map"
(WHC - The Tarns of Lakeland, p175)
