Description

From the Walna Scar Road and Banishead Moor under Coniston Old Man, the fellside abruptly drops down towards Coniston Water.  Above the fields around the western shores of the Water lies a group of of ancient settlements at the edge of this fellside; Bowmanstead, Haws Bank and the old farmstead of Spoon Hall. In this view by Alfred downslope from Spoon Hall, a rain squall bears down on the head of the lake over the slate roofs and distinctive round chimneys of Bowmanstead.
