Description

Rebecca Wallace and Pip Seymour form the company now known as Wallace Seymour Fine Art Products and as such have created a programme of high quality painting and drawing materials, made under their control and with a shared vision to provide artists with the maximum potential for expression through colour.   They have created unique ranges of oil, acrylic, watercolour (tube and pan), gouache, hand-made soft pastel, hand-made drawing materials, primers and painting mediums.  They looked at long forgotten colours, alongside ancient and modern pigments to create colour palettes to suit the needs of the most progressive and challenging artists.

The village of Backbarrow at the southern end of Windermere, was formerly an integral part of the industrial revolution in the Lake District. Until the early 1980s, Ultramarine Blue pigment, known as ‘New Blue’ was produced at the ‘Blueworks’. The pigment was used commercially as brightener in washing powder and sold in cubes that would be dissolved with washing, to make whites whiter.  They have recreated these blue cubes from ultramarine pigment, to make a unique drawing material.
