Description

This classic view of Grasmere Island depicts it against the two fells that

create the dramatic north and north-eastern skyline from the mere – Seat Sandal

(to the left) and Stone Arthur (to the right).

The Island was left to the National Trust by a reclusive spinster from London who died in 2014. It still has a boathouse on it but is now completely covered in trees, looking very different to when William painted it.

Set within a a tasteful grey wash frame.
